Villalobos Rescue Center, located in Louisiana, is one of the largest and most well-known pit bull rescue organizations in the United States. Montana Pittie Project is a foster-based rescue organization dedicated to saving bully breeds from euthanasia and finding them loving homes. Operating across Montana, they rely on a network of foster homes to provide safe environments where dogs can decompress and be assessed outside of shelter settings. Their mission encompasses rescue, rehabilitation, and community education to end the unnecessary killing of abandoned and abused bully breeds.
Nebraska
Bullies-N-Beyond ResQ (BNBR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Omaha, Nebraska, dedicated to rescuing and rehoming bully breeds. As a foster-based rescue, BNBR does not have a physical facility; instead, all available dogs reside in foster homes where they receive care and training to prepare them for adoption.

Miles of Love Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Mandan, North Dakota, dedicated to rescuing dogs and finding them furever homes. While not exclusively focused on pit bulls, they provide care and support to dogs of all breeds, ensuring they find loving, forever homes.
Ohio
Muttley Crue Rescue CLE is a volunteer-driven, foster-based rescue organization located in Cleveland, Ohio. Their mission is to rescue, care for, and rehome neglected, abused, and homeless dogs, with a particular focus on the American Pit Bull Terrier.
Oklahoma
Prima Pit Bull Rescue & Sanctuary, located near Oklahoma City, is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming pit bulls in need. Situated on a 27-acre farm, the sanctuary is developing facilities that include an indoor boarding area and outdoor walking trails to provide a safe and enriching environment for the dogs. Oregon
Born Again Pit Bull Rescue (BAPBR), established in 2007, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to improving the lives of pit bulls and their communities. As the longest-standing registered nonprofit in the Portland Metro area focused on pit bulls, BAPBR advocates for these dogs through community awareness, education, and various support programs.
Pennsylvania
Pitties.Love.Peace, Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating pit bulls and pit bull mixes throughout the Northeast, with a primary focus on dogs in Pennsylvania. They provide safe, loving, temporary homes through approved foster families, aiming to place each rescue into a loving forever home.
Rhode Island
Little Rhody Rescue, established in 2002, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Glocester, Rhode Island. They are dedicated to rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters in Tennessee and Louisiana, providing them with necessary medical care, and finding them loving forever homes. While not exclusively focused on pit bulls, Little Rhody Rescue has successfully adopted over 13,500 shelter dogs to wonderful families.
South Carolina
Pit Stop is an initiative by Beaufort County Animal Services in South Carolina, dedicated to reducing the number of homeless pit bulls and pit mixes in the community. One of their main missions is to pair professional truck drivers with specially trained pit bull shelter dogs, providing these dogs with loving, forever homes and offering truckers loyal companions for life on the open road. Pit Stop focuses on training and preparing pit bulls for adoption, ensuring they are well-suited for the unique lifestyle of truck drivers.
South Dakota
Sioux Empire Pit Rescue (SEPR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, dedicated to rescuing and rehoming pit bull-type dogs. Operating as a foster-based rescue without a physical shelter, SEPR places dogs in loving foster homes where they receive care and training to prepare them for adoption.
Tennessee
Nashville PITTIE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated to rescuing and advocating for pit bull-type dogs. Their mission encompasses advocacy, education, and rescue efforts, including community outreach programs that provide free spay and neuter services, as well as assistance with supplies and medical care to help keep dogs in their original homes.
Texas
The Bully Sanctuary, located in Shiner, Texas, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and providing sanctuary for bully breed dogs. Their mission is to advocate for these often misunderstood breeds, promote responsible ownership, and support veterans in bonding with companion dogs.
Utah
Underdog Animal Rescue & Rehab, headquartered in Moab, Utah, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating stray dogs from Native American reservations in the Four Corners area of the Southwest United States. While not focused on pit bull-type dogs, their mission includes providing transportation, veterinary care, spay/neuter and vaccination clinics, and adoption services to address the overpopulation of stray dogs in these communities.
Vermont
Passion 4 Paws is a nonprofit organization based in Shelburne, Vermont, dedicated to rescuing homeless, abandoned, neglected, or abused dogs, primarily from the South, where there are thousands of dogs in need. They work with committed fosters, volunteers, supporters, adopters, veterinarians, and trainers both in Vermont and in the South to rescue, nurture, provide medical care, housing, and rehabilitation to these precious pups.
Virginia
Vindicated Pit Bull Rescue, established in 2014, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Northern Virginia, dedicated to restoring the reputation of misrepresented and misunderstood pit bull-type dogs. Their mission is twofold: to aid in the adoption of pit bull-type dogs to responsible individuals and to promote responsible breed ownership through owner and public education.
Washington
Hello Pitty Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Washington, dedicated to rescuing and rehoming pit bull-type dogs and other bully breeds. As a foster and volunteer-based rescue, they focus on educating the public about bully breeds, offering support to dog owners, and promoting adoption.
West Virginia
Pit Bulls Second Chance Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Bluefield, West Virginia, serving both Virginia and West Virginia. Their mission is to rescue pit bulls at risk of euthanasia from local shelters, provide them with necessary care and training, and find them loving forever homes.
Wisconsin
Apple Valley Pit Crew is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, foster-based rescue organization located in Appleton, Wisconsin, dedicated to restoring pit bull-type dogs to their respected and treasured status as companions. Wyoming
Black Dog Animal Rescue (BDAR), located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is the state’s largest rescue organization. Their mission is to promote, provide, and advocate for the needs of companion animals of all breeds and backgrounds. While not specifically focused on pit bulls or bully breeds, BDAR’s inclusive approach allows them to rescue and rehome a wide variety of animals in need. Operating as a foster-home-based rescue, they ensure every adoptable animal receives personalized care.
